People use Voodoo Mummy Voodoo Dolls for many different reasons. Voodoo Mummys are magical voodoo doll talismans. Each one is hand made just for the person who ordered it. Voodoo Mummys started in Lome, Togo while I was visiting Lome in in 2001. I was visiting the famous voodoo market ( the fetish market which Lome is quite well known for). There I met an old woman who taught me how she had been making Voodoo talismans for sixty years. I told her I wanted to make "mini" versions of voodoo dolls that people could easily keep with them and she helped me to craft magic into the first Voodoo Mummy. To make the magic each doll needs to be made with care and by hand. To work magic each doll needs to have a soul, a heart, a head and skin. But the most important part in order for the Loa ( Voodoo spirits) to respond to the doll and carry out your wish is the heart.

She said the beads used for the heart must be prepared in a special way to give them power. The best way to do this is to bury them in cursed ground for a certain amount of time at a certain time of year, then in holy ground for the same amount of time at another time of year (This is tied to the "goofer dust" Voodoo tradition. Of course I won't tell you the details! trade secret, if you want to know I suggest a trip to the Voodoo market in Lome :) ). After this the beads are ready to be used. Because I was living in Romania, I decided to bury the beads under a tree on the grounds of Bran Castle.

As you may know that is Dracula’s castle. What ground could be more cursed than the blood soaked ground of the home of Vlad the Impaler? The very ground where countless souls were impaled on giant pikes or otherwise tortured usually taking days to die. After this I moved them to holy ground and buried them in the yard of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Iasi, Romania. This is the cathedral where Saint Parascheva’s holy relics lay and work miracles. Thousands of people come from all over the globe to stand in line for hours just to be able to touch the silver casket of the saint. This process infuses the beads with positive and negative energy, like a spiritual battery, superchaging them to act as a focal point for the Loa and carry out your wishes.

Of course the rest of the way the dolls are made is also important, each step must be followed exactly for each doll. Among other things your wishes, the thing you want, must be put inside them, wrapped around the heart of the doll. Along with your wish we wrap in the name of the Loa whos realm matches your wish. This will be your wishes guiding Loa. But no one but you (and us) must ever know the wish that is wrapped inside your doll! That weakens the magic. Each doll also comes with a unique name that you must tell everyone. The more people who hear your dolls name the more powerful it will become! Voodoo Mummies love to be well known.

The colour of your Voodoo Mummy depends on the wish you make and the Loa who will guide you. Each Loa has their own colour and are chosen to help facilitate your wish. The information will be included with your VM.
